Based on the chemical structures of their saponins, ginsenosides get grouped into- the panaxadiol (Rb1, Rb2, Rb3, Rc, Rd, Rg3, Rh2, and Rs1), panaxatriol (Re, Rf, Rg1, Rg2, and Rh1), and oleanolic acid groups (Ro).

Rb1 and Rg1 modulate neurotransmission by stimulating and inhibiting effects on Central Nervous System. Both Rb1 and Rg1 are effective in improving cognitive functions. Numerous studies attest that Ginseng helps in improvising cognitive functioning in animals. But, when it comes to humans, the effects are not entirely researched. Hence, it is best if you consult a doctor for it.

Some studies also suggest that Ginseng may also help in improving memory function in patients with Alzheimer’s disease. It does not mean that Ginseng can treat Alzheimer’s. It means that along with the treatment, Korean Ginseng can help to improve memory function.
